Our Mission

Our mission at For Otis Sake is to save Death Row Dogs by pulling them from high-kill animal control and shelter facilities in WV, VA, PA, OH, GA, FL, NC, KY, TX and MD, and the lists of states is continuously growing! We are a foster only organization with no facility. All donations are used to provide medical care, food, medication, and training for our rescued animals as we prepare them for their adoptive families. Additionally, we work with our local Hospice organization to help their patients identify homes for their pets that will be left behind, our hope is that by doing so, we are providing them with peace of mind and preventing these pets from ending up in shelters.

Our Vision

For Otis Sake has experienced intense growth over the past almost 2 years and the next logical step in this progression is for us to get a physical shelter. This Sanctuary will not be a "normal" shelter this will be a true transformational home for those that need us the most. It is time. Time for us to step outside of our comfort zone. Time to spread our wings and make a leap of faith. Time for us to be an even stronger voice for those that have none.

For Otis Sake has seen tremendous growth over the past two years due in no small part to the hard work and dedication of its fosters, volunteers, adopters, donors, and every other individual that stands behind and supports the organization. In the past two years, over 380 pets have been rescued from across 10 states and over 250 have been adopted out to loving families, but there is still much work to be done. As a volunteer run organization, we need YOU!

Help Support FOS

All of our dogs are spayed, neutered, vaccinated, health issues addressed/cleared and anything that needs to be cared for is done prior to adoption. While this may seem a bit excessive we do not want any animal to go their FUREVER home with pending health issues that need to be resolved. Whatever is diagnosed when our rescue animals arrived is resolved and we ensure that our pets are in great health at adoption. We have had an amputation, dentals, spays/neuters, cancer, emergency spays, training, Regardless we do this because each of the animals that reach our rescue are treated in the same manner our own animals are treated, they see our veterinarian (Mid-Atlantic Veterinary Hospital, Hagerstown MD), they receive the exact quality of care that we expect for our own pets and we take their health and well being very seriously. We average between $2500 - $5000 per month in veterinary care, preventative treatements, special diets and whatever else is needed for our rescued furkids! Recently with increased senior dogs, orthepedic surgeries and overall special cases we have taken on our expenses continue to rise!!! Please consider making a donation! Our Board and Volunteers donate personal funds and our time while balancing full-time careers and family!ADOPT don't SHOP! We can help you find the perfect new furry family member.

Success Stories are what make us smile at the end of the day. Success means taking an animal that was neglected, unwanted, often physically or emotionally injured - rehabilitating them and giving them a new chance at life that they would not have otherwise had. FOS Teams up with the Greenbriar Humane Society

The photos were taken during today's event and an article is slated to appear in the local Hancock newspaper. Special thanks go out to Tom Mazzone, Jason Hutzel, Rodney Gayman, and Cody Pine for their assistance with this project.

If you recall Greenbrier County was one of the areas hardest hit by the massive flooding this summer. Many of the families there are still struggling to get back on their feet and provide adequate housing for their families and their pets. For Otis Sake has a very close working relationship with Greenbrier County and we pull dog's regularly from their facility to help them find forever homes. Our organization wanted to give back to the community and help them out. Thus the Greenbrier County "Home for the Holidays" contest was born!

Nominations for the "Home for the Holidays" contest will be accepted through December 17th. Nominees should tell, in 500 words or less, why the family they are nominating would benefit from being awarded one of the dog houses. Winners will be selected no later than December 24th. Please visit the Greenbrier Humane Society Facebook page for more information.

Kelly Middleton

Co-Founder, Vice President

Learn More

Kelly spent the first half of her life afraid of dogs until in her early 20's she moved in with a friend who owned and fostered Chesapeake Bay Retrievers which is where her love story with dogs began. Kelly spent many years volunteering with various rescue organizations and shelters with her own adopted rescue dog, Hunter, by her side. She met FOS Founder Laurie through work and they became fast friends over their mutual love of all things Dog.

Kira Wynne

Marketing Director / Graphic Designer

Kira, like Kelly, had a fear of dogs most of her life until she fell madly in love with a friends Pitt Bull. It was then that she realized just how amazing dogs are and how they somehow have the ability to see ones soul and speak to it. When Kira finally got her firdt dog, a yellow lab named Loki, her desire to help dogs in anyway she could became a constant desire. Kira and Kelly went to high school together and Kira was always amazed at what kelly did with FOS so she was extremely excited and eager to join such an amazing team of rescuers.

Jona Frnch

Jona grew up in a family that loved animals and nurtured her desire to have them as constant companions. Jona adopted two dogs from FOS (Cooper and Georgie), then began volunteering at various events and assisting with volunteer recruitment. Jona is highly motivated and through her efforts helps FOS maintain their mission of saving dogs in need by managing our fundraising efforts.
