Calling all FOSTER's we are in need of new foster families to continue allowing us to save lives.  Please, please go to our "Get Involved" tab and check out our Foster Program.  If you are interested please complete our Foster Application found on the "Adopt" tab!  Foster's are our most cherished volunteers.  Without foster families we cannot save lives!

Please go to our Donate tab to read a special story about Ol Man.  You are going to fall in love with this boy and once you hear his story you may need some tissues.

Sadly, not every tale holds a "happy ever after" and Barney's story is heartbreaking.

We rushed to get Barney yesterday from Berkeley County Humane Society with high hopes we could get him surgery and his life would take a wonderful turn. Sadly, he had mast cell tumors that had become metastatic and invasive. This made surgery impossible, ulceration of the tumor was causing bleeding and severe pain for Barney. At the advice of multiple veterinarians we made the only right decision for Barney. There was to be no relief for this handsome boy.

The FOS team lavished him with special treats and crammed so much love in just a short period of time. In his last moments we squeezed him tight, told him how much he was loved and his tail wagged as he took his last breath. I can tell you that he left this earth covered in our salty tears but was surrounded by love.

Barney was left to die in an outdoor kennel and the lovely people at BCHS asked us for help. To his prior owner, had you dumped him a few months earlier his life may have been saved. I pray Karma will find you!

I cannot thank Cumberland Valley Veterinary Rescue and Clinic for taking an emergency for us when they were not even our primary veterinary hospital. Sadly, our primary veterinary hospital could not fit us in yesterday.

Thank you for those that reached out to help with his surgery. We NEVER make this decision without the advice of multiple vets. Thank you Dr. Diana Saxton for your kindness and helping us make the right decision for our beloved Barney. Godspeed our beautiful boy! We will meet again.

Rest easy our sweet Prince...you were loved deeply by all of us and we will never forget you!

Big Tom Sawyer is still looking for love and we hope he soon finds a family that deserves him.  He is an exceptional 1.5 year old English Hound who loves everyone!  Great with other dogs, kids, cats do not appear to be an issue either.  He is a skilled dancer, great cuddle buddy, loves to lay in his bed (especially is you cover him with a blanket)!  He is neutered, current on vaccinations, house and crate trained.  If you are looking for a great dog this guy is for you!

Eddie is a 4 year old Treeing Walker Hound who did not have a great life before arriving here at For Otis Sake.  He lives with 6 other dogs in his Foster Home, he loves kids, cats and dogs.  He is beyond gentle and loving.  Would do great in a high energy or low energy home as he quickly acclimates to his environment.  He loves to lay in the sun or just cozy up in bed.  He will make an exceptional dog for a family!  Loves attention...a simple and silly Hound is what you will find with this boy.

All dogs below have been adopted!  Yay kids...Happy Trails!!

Leah is an 11 week Brindle English Mastiff mix who is absolutely adorable.  All other siblings have been adopted but this sweet little girl waits.  She loves other dogs, cats, kids and basically everyone.  She will be about 80 lbs full grown as she is a mix.  Her markings are as beautiful as her personality.

ADOPTED - Stella is such a beautiful girl.  She suffered severe neglect at only 1-year old and came to us with horrible skin as a result of poor care and nutrition.  Well she looks amazing now and is ready for her FUREVER home.  She is housetrained, crate trained, loves kids, great with other dogs and seems indifferent with cats.  She is going to steal your heart from the moment you meet her and whomever adopts her is in for a life of fun, happiness and loyalty.

is a handsome, young hound who is beyond handsome, sweet and silly.  Great personality, loves other dogs, kids and loves his toys!  This guy is going to be a wonderful family dog and will do great with an active family!  The below pictures show him before (in the dreaded "shelter") and after in his wonderful foster home!  Amazing what a difference a few days make in the lives of an abandoned dog!

All dogs below have been ADOPTED within the past month!  Welcome to Happy Ever After furkids!!

ADOPTED!! - Lovely Ella is awaiting her furever home.  She is a 1 year old, spayed female Hound with the most engaging eyes and personality.  Loves other dogs, kids and basically everyone.
ADOPTED!!! - Queenie is available for adoption.  She is a petite full bred Shitzu with a wonderful disposition.  Loves other dogs, people, kids and has an adorable face!
ADOPTED!!! - Oh my our little Cheech is a firecracker!  He is active, slightly bossy and well has a big personality wrapped up in a 6 lb body!  He is adorable and would do best with a couple, single person but no small children.  We believe he may have been mistreated by teenage boys as he seems to be very protective of himself in their presence.  He is quite a sweet little guy and becomes attached to his owner quickly.

ADOPTED!!!  James has been adopted and these pictures tell the story!  Happy boy, Merry Christmas and a blooming love story with the neighbor dog!  We are beyond thrilled for Sir James.

Murphy is ADOPTED!   This handsome fellow found a wonderful home for the holiday's and he will be spoiled!  Murphy waited a very long time for the perfect family and he has won the lottery!

Larry has been adopted and he found a great family with a few feline friends!  This boy deserves this home and he is in for a fabulous journey with his new human sibling and wonderful parents.

Elsie is ADOPTED!!!   Elsie is all settled in with her new family and loving her new life, new family and celebrating Christmas in her FUREVER home.

ADOPTED to another wonderful family!  Our furkids have had a run of luck with finding the perfect family for each of their unique qualities!  Casey is a Miniature Dachshund who came to us suddenly when his owner became ill.  Unfortunately, his owner is no longer able to care for this little cutie with big personality.  He is funny, friendly, happy, loves to play, good with other dogs and has settled in well with his Foster family.  I suspect this little character will not be around for long.

Percy (aka Spirit) has found the family he was destined to be with and they love him as much as he loves them.  After only a short week in Foster he found his family and they are absolutely thrilled with this handsome, loving boy!  Happy life Percy...you are home.
